Testimonials

"You are beautiful, always remember that."                              - Michelle Montes

Hello my name is Michelle. I am the owner and main Artist at Project Beauty. I'm not just your average Microblading Artist—I'm a passionate creator and educator in the world of PMU (Permanent Makeup) and Microblading.

My journey into the beauty industry spans over two decades, beginning as a Makeup Artist. Through years of experience, I've honed my skills in understanding face shapes, color theory, and the intricate balance of eyebrows that truly enhance your natural beauty. But my quest for perfection didn't stop there. I delved deeper, obtaining my Esthetician license, which deepened my understanding of the facial structure and the importance of skincare ingredients.

Then, like a revelation, I stumbled upon microblading—a game-changer in the beauty world. The idea of natural-looking, time-saving eyebrows excited me to no end. I embarked on a journey, guided by my faith, seeking the right opportunities, mentors, and training to offer nothing but the best to my clients.

Lastly I would like to acknowledge because I have been richly blessed to pursue my dream career. It is with the greatest honor, I thank my Clients for entrusting me with their faces. My hearts desire and goal is that every Client leaves their appointment with me, feeling confident and knowing they look beautiful.

Who is microblading for?

Both men and women who want to effortlessly and naturally look their best anytime.

How long is the microblading healing process?

It is normal to experience minimal swelling and tenderness immediately following your procedure. This usually subsides within a a couple days. The first few days following your procedure, the pigment will appear much darker than how it will appear once it has healed. Around the 1st or 2nd week post procedure, the skin naturally exfoliates and regenerates. During this time, the pigment may appear “foggy” and difficult to see. Around week 4, when the skin completes healing, you will see the pigment become more visible.

What is difference between Microblading and Tattoo?

When you use a Tattoo machine to create hair strokes it deposits the ink much deeper in the layers of the skin, when healed it will cause the hairstrokes the look thicker and blurred, (sometimes like a solid tattoo)more dramatic and less realistic. With Microblading a hand held tool is used and we are not depositing the ink as deep as it would go with a “Tattoo machine”, which keeps each hairstroke looking sharp like a natural hair. So the result is it looks more natural and like hairstrokes when it heals.
With the sudden popularity and media attention to the term microblading, it has taken on many different types of names. Permanent cosmetics, semi-permanent makeup, micropigmentation eyebrows, feather eyebrows, brow tattoo, brow blading, Microshading, Microblading tattoo, microstroking, eyebrow embroidery, 3D Brows and long-time/long-lasting makeup, are all different names for the same procedure – Microblading.

How old do I have to be to get microblading?

You must be 18 years or older to receive Microblading at Project Beauty

Does microblading hurt?

The discomfort is relative as everyone has a different level of sensitivity. You have the option to add a “Pre numb”  before your appt. (at an additional $20) it is applied for 30 minutes before the procedure. Licdocaine is Included in the procedure once the skin is broken for the first hairstrokes, and at this point you do not feel any pain. Every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the duration of the procedure. My clients are usually pleased to discover that the beginning of the procedure is no more painful than tweezing or threading. But for an added comfort level you may always add the “Pre Numb” option.

What should I do before my microblading procedure?

If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, please bring a couple reference photos with you to your appointment. If you would like you may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so we may take into consideration the shape you feel most comfortable with. If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please refrain from doing so at least one week before your appointment. If there are any stray hairs that fall outside of our final shape, I will make sure to remove them so you look and feel beautiful with your new Brows.

If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 14 days after the procedure.

We require our clients to avoid any blood thinners for a minimum of 48 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen.

Do NOT drink any alcohol or caffeine 8 hours prior to your appointment.

NO Botox for 2 weeks prior to microblading

If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least 6 months before considering this procedure. Doxycycline users are also encouraged to wait up to 6 months before receiving Microblading.

Please avoid SUN  and TANNING BED exposure for 10 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you arrive for your appointment with a freshly tanned or sunburned skin, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin regenerates from a sunburn, it will take the pigment with it. Sun exposure can also cause excessive bleeding and sensitivity leading to poor healed results.

What should I know about long term care?

*As your skin cells exfoliate, The pigment color will lighten over time. We recommend an annual touch up to keep your brows looking their best. Fading greatly depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, iron deficiency, and if any any aggressive skincare products or services were completed after your procedure.

*When using acidic or brightening skincare products or services (chemical peels, Retin-A, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, etc) please fully cover your brow area with Vaseline, prior to product application on your skin.

* If you are planning to have an MRI, please inform the technician that you have had an iron-oxide cosmetic tattoo.

* If you are planning to have laser treatments, you must fully cover your brow tattoo with 20% zinc oxide. Laser may cause pigment to prematurely fade or change color.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept most major CREDIT CARDS, PayPal, Venmo and Cash. Unfortunately we do not accept personal checks.

Where are you located?

My studio is located in Orange County, California, more specifically in the city of Fullerton. We are just a few min off the 91 fwy Harbor Blvd exit. We have clients come from all over California and out of state as well. One thing is for sure, once you find the Artist you will trust your face with, they are worth the distance.

Permanent Eyeliner

What is Permanent Eyeliner?

Permanent eyeliner frames the eyes and can make eyelashes appear thicker, darker and fuller. It may eliminate the need to apply eyeliner with makeup. It can enhance the shape or balance the symmetry of your eyes, create the illusion of larger eyes, or affect how the spacing of the eyes is perceived. Permanent eyeliner can also enhance or intensify eye color and make eyes appear brighter.

For those who prefer a more natural look, eyeliner is applied along the base of the lashes  making it appear as though you have full and thick lashes.

For those who desire a more dramatic look, Winged Eyeliner will be a thicker more elongated result.

What if I'm not sure how much eyeliner I’d like permanently?

At Project Beauty we customize the design of your lash line or permanent eyeliner based on your individual needs, shape of your eyes, as well as personal style. Your artist will work with you to help choose a look that best suits your features and desired finish.

What are the benefits of Permanent Eyeliner?

    •    Define your eyes

    •    No more smudges, smears, or worn-off eyeliner

    •    Great for people with allergies to cosmetic products

    •    Saves time and money

    •    Great for people with unsteady hands or vision problems

    •    Swim, shower or exercise with confidence

    •    Fills in thin or light colored eyelashes

    •    Ideal for total eyelash loss due to trichotillomania or Alopecia

How old do I have to be to get tattooed?

You must be 18 years or older to receive Permanent Makeup at Project Beauty.

Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant?

As a precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant women.

How much does it hurt?

The eyeliner or lash line procedure is more psychologically scary to most clients than anything else. The discomfort is relative as everyone has a different level of sensitivity. A pre-numbing anesthetic is applied to the eyelids for numbing prior and during the procedure. Every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the duration of the procedure.

Pre care Instructions are designed and MUST be strictly followed to limit bleeding and skin sensitivities during the service. Excessive bleeding and sensitivity during the procedure will dilute and expel the pigment color and lead to poor results.

Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure.

If you are a frequent smoker or "sun worshipper" the topical anesthetics used during the treatment may not last as long and also can lead to poor retention and poor lasting results.

What should I do before and after my eyeliner procedure?

Please review our detailed “Pre & Post Care” Instructions for Eyeliner. It is highly beneficial to follow these instructions to ensure a comfortable (and safe) healing process and to achieve the best possible results.

How will I look immediately after?

There will be swelling. The swelling may last up to 48 hours.  The color will appear darker the first week. This will gradually lighten during the complete healing process. No need to go into hiding :)

If I am using an eyelash enhancing serum, similar to Lash Boost or Latisse.

Can I still have my permanent eyeliner done?

Please stop using any and all lash serums for a minimum of 1 month prior to your permanent eyeliner procedure. The reason is that those types of serums are stimulants. The will make your eyelids too fragile and vascular for cosmetic tattooing. As a result, your eyelids will bleed and bruise.   After your eyeliner procedure is completed, you should wait 4 weeks to start your serum usage again.

How long is the healing process?

It is normal to experience minimal swelling and tenderness immediately following your procedure. This usually subsides within a few hours. The first week following your treatment, the pigment will appear much darker than how it will appear once it has healed. Around the 1st or 2nd week post procedure, the skin naturally exfoliates and sheds. During weeks 4-8 when the skin completes healing, you will see the pigment become more visible. A Perfection Session visit approximately 6-8 weeks after your first initial appointment is Optional (at an additional cost) and may be necessary to achieve that richness of color, symmetry, and density in the shape.

How long does Permanent Eyeliner last?

Permanent eyeliner is a cosmetic tattoo. The pigment will fade over time and we recommend Touch-Up to keep them looking their best. There is no guarantee in how long it lasts as each individual has very different skin and lifestyle.

Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your eyeliner tattooo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry!  We can always go make necessary adjustments at your next appointment. :)

What factors will affect Permanent Eyeliner?

Bleeding during the procedure: Excessive bleeding during the tattooing procedure will reduce the amount of pigment absorption. Alcohol, Aspirin and Fish Oil as well as any blood-thinners and should be avoided a minimum of 48 hours prior to your appointment.

Sun exposure: The sun will extremely soften the look of your tattoo, and may also change the color appearance of the pigment. Whenever possible, we encourage our clients to wear sunglasses and hats to protect their beautiful eyeliner (and eyeballs too)!

Lifestyle: smokers, "sun worshippers", or anyone with skin that is in a state of distress may have less desirable results.

What should I know about long term care?

* The color will fade over time. Fading greatly depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, iron deficiency.

* Wear protective sunglasses and hats when in the sun also tanning bed goggles over eyes while tanning to prevent premature fading of your eyeliner.

* If you are planning an MRI, please inform the technician that you have had an iron-oxide cosmetic tattoo.

* If you are planning to have laser treatments, tell your laser specialist to avoid the pigmented area and also provide you with necessary eye protection.

How often do I need eyeliner touch ups?

Touch up appointments are optional. We suggest that if you want to maintain your eyeliner so that it always looks its best, plan on scheduling a touch up once every two years.

Hairline Microblading

What is Hairline PMU/Microblading?
Utilizing the art of Microblading, we create realistic, hair-mimicking strokes along the hairline. Your Artist/Technician will study your problem areas and provide a consultation beforehand in order to ensure the best results. You no longer have to worry about hair loss and/or using products to disguise the hair loss.

This is a semi-permanent solution and you must have your service touched up to maintain your beautiful results.
The procedural area is ONLY on the hairline. We do not currently offer micropigmentation, just microblading. We do not tattoo on the middle of scalp / top of the head / back of the head. This procedure is for hairline only - the “m” shape area by the sides of your forehead that frames your face, and a little in the front to connect both sides. We do not recommend this procedure for clients that are Type V or VI on the Fitzpatrick scale.

Who can benefit from Hairline PMU/Microblading?
Many people suffer from a receding hairline, bald patches, or loss of hair at all ages. This can often lead to self-consciousness, low self-esteem, and worries about trying to cover up problem areas.
Chemicals found in hair-growing products and hair-covering products often times don’t work and can lead to temporary fixes, but undesirable results. Hair-transplants also have mixed success rates and can create an unnatural frame with your hairline.

However, this can be solved with our Hairline PMU service. We excel in creating very natural, hair-like strokes that give you the illusion of a fuller hairline and enhances your beautiful face shape.

If it is your first time receiving Hairline PMU, most times we will suggest you going for the most natural appearance, even if we have to extend areas, as you can always darken and make the areas appear more “full” over time.
We suggest this method so you won’t be shocked from your appearance, and it will give you time to get used to your new look and make adjustments over time.
We make sure to consult with our clients to ensure satisfactory results before proceeding with the procedure.

What is the appointment process?
The entire process takes around 2 1/2- 3 hours. There is no down time. There is no ointment application necessary for this service. Please follow the instructions carefully so that your hairline can heal beautifully and avoid infection.
Our process is unique to our studio here at Project Beauty. Every studio is different! Even if you have gone to other studios, we ask that you follow our policy and process as we have years of experience. This is the most efficient and effective way for us to create your most desirable outcome!

1. Paperwork or Online Forms
2. Design consultation
3. We specialize in customized natural hairline. Each person has a specially customized shape.
• Based off your needs and desires/goals, the technician will custom design your hairline PMU for you.
• Upon approval, we will discuss which color option is better suited for you. Though we recommend your root hair color, we can mix any naturally occurring hair color.
• For those with lighter hair, we recommend going slightly darker to give you the illusion of definition, as lighter colors tend to fade much faster. It will be easier and more cost efficient for you to go slightly darker than your natural hair color.
• We design your hairline PMU so you can see the range in area that we will cover! For example, how far we go out depth and width-wise. We will not start until you approve your design.
4. Application of topical anesthetic
5. Begin hairline PMU service upon agreement.

Am I a good candidate?
Good candidates
1. Receding hairline
2. Hair loss
3. Those who want the illusion of a fuller hairline
4. Those who use hair powder/spray to give the illusion of a fuller hairline
5. Those who get their scalp pigmented with dye to give the illusion of a fuller hairline
6. Those who have gotten a hair-transplant and are unhappy with the unnatural hairline frame
7. If you’ve had a face lift and want to cover it up
8. Postpartum hair loss
9. Defining face shape
10. Those who want to look younger and more fresh
11. Illusion of definition without cosmetic procedure
12. Bald patches
13. Oily skin or sweats easily which makes your hair powder/spray makeup smudge. Please scroll down to read how this can also qualify as a less than ideal candidate.

Call or text us at (562)537-7248 to schedule an appointment or consultation if you’re ready to wake up looking and feeling your best!

Who is not an ideal candidate?
CONDITIONS THAT MAY AFFECT THE OUTCOME
(We will not necessarily deny you based off this reason if we both agree that in your case, it is still better than no hairline!)

1. Those who sweat and have oily skin and active lifestyles - those with oily skin and enlarged pores tend to fade faster, lines may susceptible to blowing out compared to those with normal/dry skin.
2. No baby hair
3. Extremely receding hairline
4. Hair transplants - must wait at least 6 months post your hair-transplant procedure. Please consult your doctor before making an appointment.
5. Cosmetic surgery - must wait 3 - 6 months. Please consult your doctor before making an appointment
6. Recently had botox / injectables / cosmetic procedure / surgery - please see “Preparations” for more info if this applies to you.
7. Scar tissue
• Many people have small scars hidden within their scalp without their knowledge. These small patches of discolored or pale skin are usually caused by past accidents, chicken pox or acne and do not absorb the pigments well. Therefore these areas will fade quicker than the rest.
8. Oily skin/scalp
• Almost all clients with oily skin/scalp will bleed more. If you bleed more, when you scab/heal, the blood also carries the pigment back out, making the pigment and lines more faint and could cause them to slightly blur over time, though it may look great initially post procedure.
9. Acne - prone skin at your hairline
10. Those taking lots of medication - blood thinning medication / vitamins.
• You must disclose any medical information before your procedure. We have the right to deny any individual based off their medical history if we feel as though your results will be less than desirable.
11.
Individuals who have oily skin, no or close to no hairs, large pores, previous scars, hot body temperature, and live a constantly active lifestyle outdoors will experience more bleeding than others. This causes faster fading and slight blurring of the lines. Since this depends highly on the individual’s skin type and lifestyle it cannot be prevented.

* We will not refuse you based off of these parameters, however we do give a disclaimer.

Although results may not be optimal they are better than no hairline, but may not be as satisfactory of a result compared to an ideal client. Most studios will reject these candidates, but with a skilled enough Artist/technician, we can still work with many of these parameters.
Our goal is to make sure you are happy with your hairline! If we feel as though we will be unable to achieve your goals, we will disclose this information to you and recommend that you do not get Hairline PMU.

Does it look like real hair?
Yes! Our highly skilled Artist/technician will design a customized Hairline PMU that follows your natural hair growth for the most natural and beautiful looking results.

Please visit our gallery to see just how much of a difference hairline microblading can make to one’s appearance!

Is it painful?
Our hairline service is virtually painless! Many of our clients comment on how easy and painless the entire procedure is, especially those who have had PMU done before at other studios. In comparison to our microblading service, it is slightly more painful/uncomfortable as it covers a wider range.
It also depends on the client, but most of our clients experience little to no pain as we apply a gentle but effective topical anesthetic. Because it is a cosmetic tattoo, some individuals will experience some pain or discomfort, but we take many precautions in order to ensure the comfort of our clients!

Will it damage my hair?
Not at all! Semi-permanent Microblading is placed on the outer most layer of your skin. Regular tattoos penetrate your epidermis, which is beneath the outer most layer of your skin. Your hair follicle is even deeper in the dermis and is not affected by these procedures.

What is the maintenance + longevity?
It helps to leave the procedural area alone as much as possible. This includes not washing or sweating too often. Of course, one cannot avoid washing their hair completely but someone who washes or sweats every other day might be able to preserve the lines a little better than someone who does so every day.
It lasts about 6 months - 2 years depending on the individual’s skin type and lifestyle.
Most clients come within 1-2 years to maintain their hairline. Hairline touch-ups are usually more frequent if you are the type of person shampoos/washes their hair almost every day. This can result in lines fading faster. We recommend using gentle shampoos with no sulfates/parabens for longer lasting results. Those with oily skin and more active lifestyles tend to fade faster and may require more frequent touch ups compared to others.
As you age, your skin chemistry changes as well and your results may change depending on many other outside factors, even if you have received semi-permanent cosmetic tattoos in the past. Just because you heal a certain way one time, doesn’t mean it’s going to be like that next time and vice versa. Unfortunately there is no way to discern this until after you get your cosmetic tattoo, but we do our best to tell you all the potential risks.

How will I look after my PMUservice?
You may experience slight discomfort or irritation immediately after your procedure, but it will subside within the next couple of days as you heal. You will not be able to wash your hair for 48 hours so it may look a little greasy.
• Your new color will look darker and more defined for the first 7-10 days.
• It will get lighter at the end of the week as your hairline heals and scabs (if any) fall off.
• In 4-7 days the lines start to shrink depending on the person and their skin type. Although the healing process takes 7-10 days, we recommend giving it a full month for you to fully heal and get settled in. Please look at Aftercare for more information.

What is the price range?
While basic hairline PMU starts at $750/Session it can go up to $850-$1200/Session on average, depending on how extreme your case is.
(We are currently offering a promotional offer till the end of Summer 2022- now is the time to take advantage of the great prices!)
