"You are beautiful, always remember that."                              - Michelle Montes

Hello my name is Michelle Montes. I am the owner and main artist at Project Beauty. This is my biography to convey who I am and why I am so passionate about the Art of MicroBlading...

Ever since I can remember, I have had a love for and gained inspiration from all kinds of artistic influences. My journey in the Beauty Industry began over 20 years ago as a makeup artist. Where I learned the importance of face shape, colors, undertones, and well balanced eyebrows; which all come together to accentuate and bring out the beauty of your facial features. I went on to gain my Esthetician license which further increased my understanding of facial structure, skin, and the importance of the quality of the ingredients we use on our skin.

Several years back I discovered there was a more permanent way to have eyebrows that looked so natural, would save you time getting ready every morning and would help women bring out their beautiful features, which was the art of MicroBlading! I followed up my obsession by praying & trusting the Lord to provide the right timing, people, mentors, training & doors to open so I could provide the best to my clients. I knew that if I wanted to be the best artist in the Microblading industry, I needed to train with the best in the world. After researching for a while of who I could train with, I discovered PhiBrows MicroBlading Academy. Everything they represent is done with excellence from their training, to my very seasoned Mentor to the high standards of the tools & ingredients in the pigments they produced. They truly represented a vision and passion for MicroBlading that I too am whole heartedly behind. I would not even consider touching someone's face unless I was fully confident in my artistry skills and the integrity behind the tools/pigments I would be using on my clients. And after training with them I can confidently say they gave me wings to fly. I plan on continuing to further my training in MicroBlading because I believe there is always a desire to learn and grow in any form of art.

Although microblading eyebrows seems to be more accepted now than in the past I am not MicroBlading because it's the new beauty trend, or because everyone seems to be doing it that's in the beauty industry or to make quick money. I'm doing it because I've been dreaming about pursuing it for over 10 years! Every time I had a makeup client I would envision how amazing I could make their eyebrows (which I did with makeup but I knew it could be better and look so natural with MicroBlading!) and every time I was giving someone a facial or waxing their eyebrows I would obsess over my clients who had great eyebrows, studying the way the eyebrow hairs flowed effortlessly into the next, sculpting the perfect eyebrow and framing their eyes magnificently! Or if they didn't have nice eyebrows then once again envisioning how I could help them to actually have them. During that time when anyone asked me what I thought about MicroBlading I would have two intense reactions #1 How amazingly brilliant it is #2 A sick to my stomach feeling because I wasn't pursuing my passion. So you see I was destined to be right where I am today and there is nothing else in this world I'd rather be doing right now! The last thing I would like you to know about me is I have been richly blessed with the opportunity to pursue my dream and it is with the greatest honor I thank my clients for entrusting me with their beautiful faces/eyebrows and my hearts desire is that my clients leave knowing they look and feel beautiful.

Project Beauty PMU Artist - Joanne

I love providing glamour for the everyday woman with Permanent Makeup. There is no greater feeling than witnessing a woman look in the mirror after I’m done with her service, and hear her say “OMG, I LOVE IT!” Knowing that I can help my fellow Queen feel even more lovely than when she walked in is indescribable!

Im so grateful that after being a stay at home mom for 15 years and caring for my sick father, I resurrected my dreams of pursuing the things I was passionate about.

When my father passed away, I felt I no longer had a purpose. The thought of pursuing my passion at my age, seemed so unrealistic. I always desired to be a part of the beauty industry. A few years ago I took a leap of faith and became certified as a lash artist! I became obsessed with enhancing women’s confidence and so determined to succeed. This sparked a whole new level of inspiration! It opened my eyes to the many dreams that still lay dormant. A couple years ago I decided to step out once again with the support and encouragement of my friend/mentor Michelle, from Project Beauty. I entered into the world of Permanent Makeup! This quickly became a new passion! There is so much fulfillment in doing what you love! You are never too old to dream another dream or pursue a new passion. I am inspired by continually refining, growing and training how to master the artistry and precision it takes to be successful in the Permanent makeup world!

Who is microblading for?

Both men and women who want to effortlessly and naturally look their best anytime.

How long is the microblading healing process?

It is normal to experience minimal swelling and tenderness immediately following your procedure. This usually subsides within a a couple days. The first few days following your procedure, the pigment will appear much darker than how it will appear once it has healed. Around the 1st or 2nd week post procedure, the skin naturally exfoliates and regenerates. During this time, the pigment may appear “foggy” and difficult to see. Around week 4, when the skin completes healing, you will see the pigment become more visible.

What is difference between Microblading and Tattoo?

When you use a Tattoo machine to create hair strokes it deposits the ink much deeper in the layers of the skin, when healed it will cause the hairstrokes the look thicker and blurred, (sometimes like a solid tattoo)more dramatic and less realistic. With Microblading a hand held tool is used and we are not depositing the ink as deep as it would go with a “Tattoo machine”, which keeps each hairstroke looking sharp like a natural hair. So the result is it looks more natural and like hairstrokes when it heals.
With the sudden popularity and media attention to the term microblading, it has taken on many different types of names. Permanent cosmetics, semi-permanent makeup, micropigmentation eyebrows, feather eyebrows, brow tattoo, brow blading, Microshading, Microblading tattoo, microstroking, eyebrow embroidery, 3D Brows and long-time/long-lasting makeup, are all different names for the same procedure – Microblading.

How old do I have to be to get microblading?

You must be 18 years or older to receive Microblading at Project Beauty

Does microblading hurt?

The discomfort is relative as everyone has a different level of sensitivity. You have the option to add a “Pre numb”  before your appt. (at an additional $20) it is applied for 30 minutes before the procedure. Licdocaine is Included in the procedure once the skin is broken for the first hairstrokes, and at this point you do not feel any pain. Every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the duration of the procedure. My clients are usually pleased to discover that the beginning of the procedure is no more painful than tweezing or threading. But for an added comfort level you may always add the “Pre Numb” option.

What should I do before my microblading procedure?

If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, please bring a couple reference photos with you to your appointment. If you would like you may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so we may take into consideration the shape you feel most comfortable with. If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please refrain from doing so at least one week before your appointment. If there are any stray hairs that fall outside of our final shape, I will make sure to remove them so you look and feel beautiful with your new Brows.

If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 14 days after the procedure.

We require our clients to avoid any blood thinners for a minimum of 48 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen.

Do NOT drink any alcohol or caffeine 8 hours prior to your appointment.

NO Botox for 2 weeks prior to microblading

If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least 6 months before considering this procedure. Doxycycline users are also encouraged to wait up to 6 months before receiving Microblading.

Please avoid SUN  and TANNING BED exposure for 10 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you arrive for your appointment with a freshly tanned or sunburned skin, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin regenerates from a sunburn, it will take the pigment with it. Sun exposure can also cause excessive bleeding and sensitivity leading to poor healed results.

What should I know about long term care?

*As your skin cells exfoliate, The pigment color will lighten over time. We recommend an annual touch up to keep your brows looking their best. Fading greatly depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, iron deficiency, and if any any aggressive skincare products or services were completed after your procedure.

*When using acidic or brightening skincare products or services (chemical peels, Retin-A, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, etc) please fully cover your brow area with Vaseline, prior to product application on your skin.

* If you are planning to have an MRI, please inform the technician that you have had an iron-oxide cosmetic tattoo.

* If you are planning to have laser treatments, you must fully cover your brow tattoo with 20% zinc oxide. Laser may cause pigment to prematurely fade or change color.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept most major CREDIT CARDS, PayPal, Venmo and Cash. Unfortunately we do not accept personal checks.

Permanent Eyeliner

What is Permanent Eyeliner?

Permanent eyeliner frames the eyes and can make eyelashes appear thicker, darker and fuller. It may eliminate the need to apply eyeliner with makeup. It can enhance the shape or balance the symmetry of your eyes, create the illusion of larger eyes, or affect how the spacing of the eyes is perceived. Permanent eyeliner can also enhance or intensify eye color and make eyes appear brighter.

For those who prefer a more natural look, eyeliner is applied along the base of the lashes  making it appear as though you have full and thick lashes.

For those who desire a more dramatic look, Winged Eyeliner will be a thicker more elongated result.

What if I'm not sure how much eyeliner I’d like permanently?

At Project Beauty we customize the design of your lash line or permanent eyeliner based on your individual needs, shape of your eyes, as well as personal style. Your artist will work with you to help choose a look that best suits your features and desired finish.

How old do I have to be to get tattooed?

You must be 18 years or older to receive Permanent Makeup at Project Beauty.

Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant?

As a precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant women.

How much does it hurt?

The eyeliner or lash line procedure is more psychologically scary to most clients than anything else. The discomfort is relative as everyone has a different level of sensitivity. A pre-numbing anesthetic is applied to the eyelids for numbing prior and during the procedure. Every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the duration of the procedure.

Pre care Instructions are designed and MUST be strictly followed to limit bleeding and skin sensitivities during the service. Excessive bleeding and sensitivity during the procedure will dilute and expel the pigment color and lead to poor results.

Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure.

If you are a frequent smoker or "sun worshipper" the topical anesthetics used during the treatment may not last as long and also can lead to poor retention and poor lasting results.

What should I do before and after my eyeliner procedure?

Please review our detailed “Pre & Post Care” Instructions for Eyeliner. It is highly beneficial to follow these instructions to ensure a comfortable (and safe) healing process and to achieve the best possible results.

How will I look immediately after?

There will be swelling. The swelling may last up to 48 hours.  The color will appear darker the first week. This will gradually lighten during the complete healing process. No need to go into hiding :)

If I am using an eyelash enhancing serum, similar to Lash Boost or Latisse.

Can I still have my permanent eyeliner done?

Please stop using any and all lash serums for a minimum of 1 month prior to your permanent eyeliner procedure. The reason is that those types of serums are stimulants. The will make your eyelids too fragile and vascular for cosmetic tattooing. As a result, your eyelids will bleed and bruise.   After your eyeliner procedure is completed, you should wait 4 weeks to start your serum usage again.

How long is the healing process?

It is normal to experience minimal swelling and tenderness immediately following your procedure. This usually subsides within a few hours. The first week following your treatment, the pigment will appear much darker than how it will appear once it has healed. Around the 1st or 2nd week post procedure, the skin naturally exfoliates and sheds. During weeks 4-8 when the skin completes healing, you will see the pigment become more visible. A Perfection Session visit approximately 6-8 weeks after your first initial appointment is Optional (at an additional cost) and may be necessary to achieve that richness of color, symmetry, and density in the shape.

How long does Permanent Eyeliner last?

Permanent eyeliner is a cosmetic tattoo. The pigment will fade over time and we recommend Touch-Up to keep them looking their best. There is no guarantee in how long it lasts as each individual has very different skin and lifestyle.

Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your eyeliner tattooo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry!  We can always go make necessary adjustments at your next appointment. :)

What factors will affect Permanent Eyeliner?

Bleeding during the procedure: Excessive bleeding during the tattooing procedure will reduce the amount of pigment absorption. Alcohol, Aspirin and Fish Oil as well as any blood-thinners and should be avoided a minimum of 48 hours prior to your appointment.

Sun exposure: The sun will extremely soften the look of your tattoo, and may also change the color appearance of the pigment. Whenever possible, we encourage our clients to wear sunglasses and hats to protect their beautiful eyeliner (and eyeballs too)!

Lifestyle: smokers, "sun worshippers", or anyone with skin that is in a state of distress may have less desirable results.

What should I know about long term care?

* The color will fade over time. Fading greatly depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, iron deficiency.

* Wear protective sunglasses and hats when in the sun also tanning bed goggles over eyes while tanning to prevent premature fading of your eyeliner.

* If you are planning an MRI, please inform the technician that you have had an iron-oxide cosmetic tattoo.

* If you are planning to have laser treatments, tell your laser specialist to avoid the pigmented area and also provide you with necessary eye protection.

How often do I need eyeliner touch ups?

Touch up appointments are optional. We suggest that if you want to maintain your eyeliner so that it always looks its best, plan on scheduling a touch up once every two years.
